Toolkit
To set up an efffective school travel plan, you'll first need to do a little research and make sure you have an evaluation process in place too. But the good news is, all the guides and downloads you'll need to get started are right here.
And don't forget if you need any help or advice along the way, our travel planning team will be with you every step of the way.
EVERY CHILD MATTERS
Every Child Matters (ECM) is a government led programme to help each child in the UK reach their highest potential by supporting them in a range of positive activities both in and out of school. With a school travel plan, we can help your school meet all the ECM objectives in a number of different ways.
- Be healthy – By cycling or walking to school in groups, kids will get to flex their physical and social muscles.
- Stay Safe – Because they involve the local Council, school travel plans help attract funding to make roads and walkways safer for children.
- Enjoy and Achieve – Children who travel to school ‘actively’ are more alert, attentive and ready to learn.
- Make a Positive Contribution – By choosing greener methods of transport, children can help make a real difference to the local area, the environment and the whole community.
- Economic Wellbeing – Being able to travel independently and safely can open up a wealth of opportunities for young people.
More detailed information on how school transport plans link to ECM will be available for download by the end of April 2007 – so make sure you visit us again then.
